
This Thursday, 20th August 2020, NUDOR and Save the Children signed a memorandum of understanding to work together and address the lack of implementation of inclusive accessibility and Education for children with disabilities.

The Two member organization realized that the Rwandan policies are inclusive in terms of providing adequate education for children with disabilities. However the Executive Secretary of NUDOR Jean Damascene NSENGIYUMVA said that the implementation process is another point to consider because it becomes an aspect that stimulates the challenges children with disabilities face in the field of Education. Education, Parental engagement, Community sensitization, increased Child protection and Inclusive early child development were the main focus and subject of discussions held during the event before and after signing the MOU.
The Save the Children Country director Maggie Korde said that the MoU with NUDOR is starting in Education, but insisted that inn future it will go beyond Education with other sectors like Health, livelihood and more that can make a change of the life of a child.

Although the ongoing interaction and collaboration between NUDOR and Save Children, the signing of MOU between the two member Organization will reinforce and formalize the existing relationship. Hence, Firstly, this MOU will serve as an agreement between NUDOR (Including its member organizations) and Save the children for mutual collaboration to share experience, technical expertise, and knowledge. Together, both parties can peer to look for sustainable solutions that would benefit children with disabilities and their communities for years to come.
Secondly, signing the MOU will outline the terms of partnership between Save the Children and NUDOR to ensure the concerns, needs and experience of children with disabilities are made an integral part of all programming in Rwanda.
Particularly, this MOU will promote the following
- Education and Increased participation of children with disabilities in early grade literacy activities.
- Parental engagement and training for the development and wellbeing of children with disabilities at home and in the community.
- Community Sensitization and advocacy to remove barriers that hinder children with disabilities from full participation in community and government programs.
- Increased Protection of children with disabilities and their rights.
- Inclusive Early Child development.
This cooperation between the two parties is expected to lead to a greater influence, further more create an impact that will promote accessibility and quality education that Children with disabilities eager to receive. This MOU will give a direction to NUDOR and Save the Children towards the empowerment of Inclusive Education for children with disabilities and their lives.

There was an emphasize on an agreed thought shared by Maggie Korde on strengthening and looking beyond the actual practices that concern an inclusive education for children with disabilities, as well as projects established to help children with disabilities in both sides of the organizations. Moreover, the share of information about the sign of the MOU with member organizations of NUDOR needs to be provided to leave a space wherein they could involve their support to this MOU.
The event hosted three guests from Save the Children namely; Maggie Korde: Country Director who signed the MoU on behalf of Save the Children Rwanda, Batamuliza Catherine : Inclusive Education Officer ; Umwizerwa Solange and Chief Of Party COP (Chief of Party) of Mureke Dusome while on the side of NUDOR were the Chairperson of NUDOR who signed the MoU, Mr. BIZIMANA Dominique, NUDOR Executive Secretary Mr. NSENGIYUMVA Jean Damascene, Mr. Safari Wiolliam, the Education For All (EFA) project manager and other staff including program coordinators and project managers.
The staff from both institutions attended the MoU signature
