The National Union of Disability Organizations in Rwanda NUDOR explained this in a meeting that held together two institutions on this Tuesday 1st, 2020, where NUDOR was represented by its Executive Secretary Mr. NSENGIYUMVA Jean Damascene and its lawyer Mr. MUREMA Jean Baptiste while AEBR was represented by its speaker Reverend Emmanuel NDAGIJIMANA and Pastor Laetitia DUSABIMANA in charge of women and family Department.
In this meeting, Reverend Emmanuel NDAGIJIMANA told NUDOR that he was interested in holding this meeting with NUDOR after finding that among the people they serve are a big number of Persons with disabilities that they do not know how to approach them and what they can do for them. He added that AEBR (Association des Eglises Baptiste au Rwanda) liked to partner with an organization that has experience in disability movement that can share with them through their expertise and found NUDOR as the best in Rwanda.

On its side, NUDOR welcomed the good Idea of AEBR to look for partnership with them. The Executive Secretary of NUDOR Mr. Jean Damascene NSENGIYUMVA noticed that it will be a great pleasure to work together with AEBR as it can help to raise awareness about the rights of persons with disabilities to AEBR community. “People took everything told by Pastors and Priests as true and correct. If your pastors can accept to give any single message on persons with disabilities’ rights, this will play a crucial role in changing their mindset towards them, then change the mindset of the entire community” he reported. He added that NUDOR can partner With AEBR regardless whether there is funds or not because there are some activities that require people to share expertise and experience than money. He added that for activities that require money, NUDOR and AEBR can make proposals together to their partners. Lastly NUDOR accepted that they can help AEBR by providing trainings that can help them raising awareness on persons with disability rights and other related issues and promise to talk to CBR program coordinator CBR to see if AEBR can serve in this program as a partner organization.
AEBR appreciated NUDOR’s commitment and acceptance of sharing with them their knowledge on disability related issues and themselves committed to teaching their Christians once they get this kind of training to rise their awareness.
Both institutions closed discussions by delegating people from both sides that will take time and sit together to compose a MoU draft that will guide the two institutions on points of partnership they can have.
