This August 2, 2016 National Union of Disability Organizations in Rwanda , NUDOR has met COGEBANQUE management team. The meeting was in line with the activity initiated by NUDOR for the purpose of building partnership with private business companies including the commercial banks. On COGEBANQE side, the management team was composed of Mrs. Vivian IGUNDUURA, Deputy Managing Director and Acting Managing Director, Mr. MUREMANGINGO Rachid, Chief Finance Officer, Mr. MUJYAMBERE Montfort Business Development Director and Mr. KAYONGA Joel Credit Officer.
On NUDOR side the team in visit was composed of TWAGIRIMANA Eugene, PPIMA ( Public Policy Information Monitoring and Advocacy ) Project Manager, VUNINGABO Emile Cadet, Livelihoods Project Manager, SEKAREMA Jean Paul, Grant Officer and NIYOYITA Eric , IT Officer.
The items on the agenda included inter alia COGEBANQUE Corporate social responsibility, NUDOR advocacy work for the rights of persons with disabilities, the purpose of meeting COGEBANQUE and ways forward to build partnership.
TWAGIRIMANA Eugene briefly presented to COGEBANQUE Management team NUDOR mission, vision strategic aims areas of work: health, education and economic empowerment for PWDs. He highlighted that all NUDOR advocacy work is in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, UNCRPD. Coming back to the purpose of meeting COGEBANQUE, Mr. TWAGIRIMANA Eugene said that, in its advocacy work, NUDOR has been working mainly with public institutions and other Civil Society Organizations. However, NUDOR has found it was time to partner with business companies including commercial banks and other private companies for continuing working for an inclusive society .
Mrs Vivian IGUNDUURA, Deputy Managing Director and Acting Managing Director said that, a part of being a commercial bank, COGEBANQUE has corporate social responsibilities where some budget is availed to support some activities related to health and social well being of citizens. She thanked NUDOR for having thought on partnering with COGEBANQUE and appreciated NUDOR advocacy work as it serves a noble cause.
As conclusive ways forward, COGEBANQUE management team recommended NUDOR to develop a proposal explaining clearly the kind of partnership they want to build with COGEBANQUE. Once the management team has examined the proposal a feedback will be given to NUDOR.
On the behalf of NUDOR team, Mr. TWAGIRIMANA Eugene thanked COGEBANQUE management for the will and commitment of supporting NUDOR advocacy work for a better promotion and protection of the rights of persons with disabilities.
