From August 9th to 17th, 2022, new persons with disabilities saving group members from the districts of Gisagara, Muhanga, Burera, Rubavu and Ngoma are learning from existing groups respectively in Nyaruguru, Ruhango, Musanze, Rutsiro and Kayonza.
The main objective of this field visit was to upgrade skills related to group leadership, records keeping and success stories sharing of income generating activities. During the peer exchange visit, the visitors proceeded with the observations on how the group meetings are conducted, listen to different testimonies and the session was closed by questions and answers for clarification.
Visitors expressed their positive feelings after realizing that there are many steps of VSLG methodology that were not applied. For instance, they thought that it is not possible to hold group meeting within less than 45 minutes including the time for loans, managing the records (registers, passbooks) by one person (secretary), acquiring reproductive asset from the small amount, discipline among the group members etc.
They finally promised to put and share, with other group members, acquired knowledge into practice when back home.
