United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCPRD)

NUDOR follows the view that persons with disabilities are “subjects” with rights, who are capable of claiming those rights and making decisions for their lives based on their free and informed consent as well as being active members of society. This is a move away from the view that persons with disabilities are  “objects”  of charity, medical treatment and social protection. In line which this approach, NUDOR advocates for the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities which was ratified in Rwanda in 2008.

A number of tools are available which provide more information about the rights of persons with disabilities in Rwanda.
